Google Test Center

This article describes, analyses and critique's Googles latest indexing changes. SEO specialists have been noticing alot of changes in the SERP's (search engine results page) recently, with some keywords completely dropping out of the top 100 and others prospering. Usually Google roll out these changes to relfect on current spamming tecniques with my theory being they are discounting blog spamming, article writing spam and other forms of SMM (social media marketing) spam. Simply because they are relatively easy to artificially inflate to maximise linking and page rank, inturn effecting the Google SERP's.

Googles Test Center

Methods of which Google is marking up against is simply dropping links into blog pages and popular articles which inturn relate to the total backlinks a page is building up, and so artificially inflating th epresumed authority that a website has by increasing non reciprical links.

Have a read through the lens, there are more SEO len's listed at the bottom for more help, hints, advice and tecniques involved in Google Search Engine Optimisation.

With a view to completely seperating themselves from page rank all-together Googles strategy would to first notice all possible ways of artificially inflating PR, blog spam being one method. Results are showing around 12-15 places different from expected although this seems to be going back to normal rankings now. You can find this out by searching in Google and hovering the mouse over the cache button below each result and looking in the bottom left hand corner (diagram below)."

SEO Being Effected By Google Test Center??

The Google Search Engine Results Page Picture above shows the "209" test center, if your seeing similar results on the test center, stick it out with the adverse result, Google should be back to normal soon. Once they finish "dancing" around you should see a "74" data center in the bottom left. Thats Google's normal index, if this is showing your results now then they WILL be there when the data center returns to normal.

Cost On Your SEO Time and Money!

If you see "74" at the start of the Google data center IP then your Search Engine results are fine, and are being displayed on the normal Google indexing system, though if your seeing "209" then the results showing are still in the data update, and so are very much changeable. It is not a cause for concern at the moment, although keep checking your SEO to see when your results pages are back on the standard data center and view any changes made in SERP's.

Some SEO clients have experianced rapid growth and falls during the new indexing procedure, some falling out of the top 100 for no fault of their own but some are flying to the top. In my opinion mainly due to URL naming.

Generally in my opinion Google is now producing algorithm criteria which hugely favour older sites, authoritative linking strategy and a lower keyword density than before (perhaps 3-5%). From what i can see with my clients and my own personal sites, indexing seems to be including new sites quicker than before and including them straight into its current index if they were included in the test center previously. In a couple of circumstances i have spotted previously low ranking sites fly into the top 10, simply because of their domain name being spot on (generally from luck more than judgement when purchasing the URL).

The "Against Blogs" Slap?

The "slap" was a theoretical name bought about by Googles algorithm changes, which as I mentioned earlier is more than like a pre determined starter for the more recent changes. SEO specialists would say that Googles PR system is almost dcertainly going to be vanquished into the depths of SEO history and will soon be replaced by a more complex dating/history system, analysis shows that sites are too-ing and throw-ing between the SERP's more than ever due to small changes in on site SEO!

Squidoo was supposedly "slapped" into submission for being able to artificially infalte links using the Blurb system (although recently changed). The system involved users placing links on the most popular lens' in Squidoo ranks, to gain visitors to their site based on the popularity of that lens.

Was The Squidoo Slap Real Or A Simple "Against Blog" Algorithm?
